What a magnificent "fall foliage" season we have had! The colors were outstanding and except for 2 days of rain (they don't call 'em the Green Mountains for nothing!), the weather was fantastic -- frosty nights and warm days brought out orange and gold! What a treat to see so many of you visit The Wooden Needle! I am humbled by your continued loyalty and truly enjoy the warm conversations. Life continues to be quite busy for me outside the shop with frequent travel to my Dad's, but he is still managing to live on his own at the age of 90 in December and still sharp of mind and wit! Thank you always for your words of concern for his well being and mine.
The Wooden Needle is still steady and for that I am so grateful. It appears that cross stitch is making a bit of a come-back especially in the reproduction sampler category. Have you seen the beautiful charts from designer Hands Across the Sea? Magnificent! Several were here less than a week! I will definitely re-order so let me know if you want any. Remember that you can look at the Hoffman site and email me or call with a title/number in which you are interested and it will get added to my next order.
A bit of housekeeping about threads. The shop has the complete lines of Weeks Dye Works and Gentle Art. There is also a small number of Classic Colorworks which I'm happy to add to if you need a particular color. However, they are all having "dyeing" issues so orders are long in coming. Hoffman has been very gracious to The Wooden Needle because of my size and they are sending to me in small batches. Please be patient and think ahead for your winter stitching projects. I will do my best to keep the list going. Also, the needlepoint line of Silk & Ivory is experiencing some delays as well.
A new "local" needlepoint designer is on the scene. Kelly from alice & blue is designing some cute and more contemporary canvases. The Wooden Needle has some of them and can get what you want. Please take a look:
Please enjoy these last few weeks of color and warmth by getting outside. While you are taking a walk in the crisp weather perhaps you will give some thought to a winter project to stitch while soon getting cozy at home. Let me know if I can help.
If you are traveling a distance to visit The Wooden Needle, remember to call the shop that morning to check hours. At any time the shop may have to close unexpectedly.
closing for vacation:
