Dear Friends,
Well the winter in Vermont has not been exactly beautiful but it has been "wintry!"  December was snow everyday but January was ice!  My very long steep driveway was threat enough for me to say, "I think I'll just stay home today and stitch!"  Now we're having Spring on Feb. 21 -- the bank across the street is registering 73°!  Ahh, Vermont -- don't like the weather; wait a minute!  No matter the weather though, I like to stay home and stitch and I'm hoping you're getting to do some.  There's alot going on at The Wooden Needle so here's the news!

*For any of you who will be traveling from southern New England through Massachusetts during the month of March, please be sure to stop at the Vermont Welcome Center in Guilford.  The Wooden Needle and Stowe Fabric & Yarn will have a display case to show off who we are.

*Although it seems far away, needlepointers please be reminded that your work to be finished for Christmas must be in the shop by August 1.  Also, to reiterate that although The Wooden Needle has a small selection of needlepoint, I can order what you want if you call the shop with the info on the designer's website.

*The needlepoint market trade show took place last month and some new painted canvases have found their way to the shop.  As a little girl I couldn't wait for the Christmas TV specials -- Rudolph, Frosty and the Grinch.   So when Raymond Crawford Needlepoint released a canvas group of these retro designs, I hit send!  Designs are on his website or call The Wooden Needle and I can send you pictures of what is here.

*Great new designs from Susan Roberts Needlepoint can be found on her website -- bunnies, ocean birds and Santas.

*Beautiful Easter eggs and much more from Kelly Clark Needlepoint.  Her catalog is huge but so many interesting detailed designs:

*For cross stitchers, the Little House Needleworks series "Farmhouse Christmas" is very popular and you can jump in anytime.  It's a set of 9 charts and The Wooden Needle has the fabric in 28, 32 and 14 ct as well as the Classic Colorworks threads.  Please call me for details.  Take a peek at their website:

*The Nashville Needlework Market is coming up so if you are a "follower" of any of the cross stitch designers, you will have noticed that they are posting many new designs.  Be sure to let me know if you want to order anything you see.  Also the best way to see many of these will be to watch the Hoffman Distributor website after March 2.

*In the world of cross stitch "Lizzie Kate" is known as one of the most popular designers in the country.  She has been a prolific designer of whimsical and inspirational designs.  When you walk into The Wooden Needle, models of her work are everywhere.  As of March 1 the last of her designs will be released as she has announced her retirement.  Her designs will no longer be available once stock has been depleted through her distributors.  I still have many of her charts in the shop (especially the double flip series), so please call if you are looking for something.  As a shop owner I was quite rattled by this news -- what will my shop look like without these models?  However,  I do wish Linda and Alan Ebright the best of good wishes because again, as a shop owner, they were so very kind and generous to me.  They were all about seeing the small shops succeed and it was some of their work that helped The Wooden Needle do that!

As we enjoy a touch of Spring, smart Vermonters know that we still have March and April (and maybe some May) ahead with lots of stitching time in the forecast!  Know that I will be happy to keep your stash full of projects!  Call with questions and orders and also to check hours.

**HOURS for March & April:
    Wed thru Sat  10 -- 4
    closed Sun, Mon, Tues

**Closed also Sat March 3

**VACATION:
    closing Good Friday March 30 @ 2:00
